The term Gastrointestinal disorder is used to refer to any disease or condition that occurs within the gastrointestinal tract.

Gastrointestinal disorders include conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, haemorrhoids, constipation, anal fissures, perianal abscesses, anal fistulas, perianal infections, diverticular diseases, colitis, colon polyps and cancer. Most of these disorders can be prevented or controlled by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, practising good bowel habits, and submitting to cancer screening.

The gastrointestinal tract is also known as the GI tract. GI is a series of hollow organs that form a long continuous passage from our mouth to our anus.
